Robinhood Chain Launches Arcus' Leveraged ETF-Style pTokens
Arcus has launched pTokens on the Robinhood Chain, allowing users to package managed perpetual futures positions into transferable ERC-20 assets. This new protocol is designed to provide leveraged exposure to markets such as Bitcoin and other crypto assets.
The initial lineup of pTokens includes products offering fixed target exposure to various markets, including 1x and 3x long or short configurations for assets like Bitcoin, Solana, and HYPE. Each pToken represents a proportional interest in an underlying perpetual account configured around a specific market and leverage target.
The concept resembles leveraged exchange-traded funds (ETFs) but is structurally different. While ETFs package derivatives and rebalancing strategies into securities that investors can buy through ordinary brokerage accounts, pTokens are blockchain-native assets built on perpetual futures infrastructure.
Arcus CEO Eddie Zhang compared the accessibility of pTokens to the role leveraged ETFs have played in traditional finance, making sophisticated strategies easier to access. However, he noted that pTokens do not simplify the underlying risk and that users must still understand margin management, funding rates, and liquidation mechanics.
