Robinhood Chain Overtakes Ethereum in Daily Revenue as Memecoin Trading Surges
The Robinhood Chain has surpassed Ethereum in daily revenue, driven by intense trading activity and the rise of memecoins. On August 30th, apps on the network earned approximately $2.66 million over a 24-hour period, outperforming Ethereum's roughly $1.27 to $1.28 million during the same window.
This marks a significant milestone for the Robinhood Chain, which launched on July 1st with a focus on tokenized stocks. However, the network has since become synonymous with memecoin trading, with Pons and Uniswap accounting for nearly 88% of its app revenue during this period.
The surge in memecoin activity is evident in the number of tokens launched through Pons, which reached an all-time high of over 22,600 on August 30th, a more than 40% increase from the previous day. Uniswap also saw significant trading volume, with about $432 million processed through its newest version and another $357 million through the previous one.
While this shift towards memecoin trading may have deviated from the network's original intent, it has undoubtedly driven revenue for the Robinhood Chain. The data suggests that a small group of apps is capturing most of the money paid by users, with GMGN, Pons, and Uniswap dominating the market.
