Robinhood Chain Surges Past 100 Million Transactions, Memecoins Steal the Show
Robinhood Chain, an Ethereum Layer 2 blockchain built on Arbitrum's Orbit stack, has seen explosive growth since its July 1 launch. The platform processed a staggering 100 million cumulative transactions in just three weeks, with daily transaction volume peaking at 10.4 million. Block times averaged around 100 milliseconds, making it one of the fastest L2 blockchains available.
Despite these impressive numbers, the platform's adoption has been driven primarily by memecoins, rather than tokenized real-world assets (RWAs) as initially intended. Tokenized stocks on Robinhood Chain amount to a mere $12-$17 million, while daily DEX trading volume surged from $200,000 to over $500 million in just nine days.
This trend is reminiscent of Coinbase's Base launch in 2023, where meme coins propelled the platform to scale before any meaningful RWA ecosystem developed. The success of Robinhood Chain highlights the power of retail investment in driving adoption and growth in the crypto space.
