Robinhood Clears Key UK Crypto Regulatory Hurdle
Roninhood has cleared an important regulatory hurdle in the UK by registering under the Money Laundering Regulations. The registration, which took effect on July 31, 2026, allows Robinhood's UK entity to conduct covered crypto exchange or custody activities.
However, this registration does not automatically launch cryptocurrency trading services for UK customers. Existing customers still cannot buy or sell cryptocurrencies through the Robinhood UK app.
The Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) assesses applicants' systems for customer identification, transaction monitoring, sanctions screening, risk management, and suspicious-activity reporting. Only 67 of the 388 applications determined by the FCA resulted in registration, with the remainder being withdrawn, rejected, or refused.
