Robinhood Launches Crypto Trading in UK with No Commissions
Robinhood has expanded its services in the UK by introducing cryptocurrency trading directly within its main investment application. The new feature allows users to trade over 50 digital assets, including Bitcoin, Ethereum, and XRP, alongside stocks, ISAs, options, and futures on a single platform.
The trades are executed through Bitstamp UK Ltd, which was acquired by Robinhood in 2025 for $200 million. The service launches with no trading commissions, account maintenance fees, or custody charges, but users will pay a foreign exchange commission of 0.1%, rising to 0.3% on certain conversions during weekends.
Assets held through Bitstamp UK are not covered by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme or the Financial Ombudsman Service. The platform also introduces Robinhood Cortex Digests for Crypto, a widget powered by generative artificial intelligence that analyzes breaking news, market data, and technical indicators to provide context for making informed investment decisions.
According to Jordan Sinclair, president of Robinhood UK Ltd and general manager of Bitstamp UK Ltd, the launch is 'a major step toward becoming the all-in-one investment platform for the UK.' The company's blockchain ecosystem will also reach UK developers, who can build on Robinhood Chain, a layer-2 blockchain based on Arbitrum.
