Robinhood Prediction Markets Volumes Drop as Crypto Trading Surges

Retail broker Robinhood (NASDAQ:HOOD) reported its August 2026 operating data, showing that volumes in its Prediction Markets unit declined for the second consecutive month. The Event Contracts traded in this segment dropped 23% from July 2026 to 4.7 billion, but still saw a year-over-year increase of 15x.

The decline may be attributed to the boost in volumes seen in Q2, particularly around World Cup-related trades. However, given the overall growth of Robinhood's business, there might be some concern about the direction of Prediction Markets trading going forward.

On the other hand, Crypto trading saw a significant increase of 61% from July 2026 to $17.5 billion, with Bitcoin's price jump from the low $60,000s to above $80,000 mid-month contributing to this surge.
