Robinhood Releases Event Contract for Predicting Bitcoin Price on August 19, 2026
The Robinhood derivatives platform has introduced a new event contract tied to the price of Bitcoin (BTC) on August 19, 2026, at 8am EDT. The contract will determine whether the BTC price reaches specific thresholds.
According to the contract terms, if the BTC price is $64,400 or above, holders who predicted this outcome will receive a payout of 96 cents for every contract owned. Similarly, if the price hits $64,500 or above, holders will get 7 cents per contract, and if it reaches $64,600 or above, they'll receive 1 cent per contract.
The event contract resolves within one hour after the specified time, and the official and final value is determined by taking the average of 60 Real Time Index (RTI) prices collected at the last minute before expiration. The platform warns that trading prohibitions apply to certain individuals, including those employed by Source Agencies or holding material non-public information on the underlying.
