Robinhood Revenue Surges to $1.31 Billion Amid Crypto Trading Decline
Robinhood's revenue hit an all-time high of $1.31 billion in Q2, a 32% increase year-over-year, exceeding analysts' expectations of $1.26 billion. The surge was driven by strong earnings and increasing customer balances.
The company's net income reached $573 million, or $0.62 per share, up from $386 million, or $0.42 per share, in the same period last year.
Crypto trading volumes decreased to $40 billion, down from $66 billion previously, but Robinhood continued to expand its blockchain capabilities with the launch of the public mainnet of Robinhood Chain, an Ethereum Layer-2 protocol for tokenized real-world assets.
Robinhood CEO Vlad Tenev highlighted the success of the company's prediction markets and stock trading, which saw significant growth in Q2. He also mentioned the strong performance of the Robinhood Chain network, which has already reached $12 billion in index volume since its launch.
