Robinhood Secures UK Crypto Registration Ahead of Regulatory Framework
Roger is not alone in his opinion that Robinhood's recent FCA registration will have a significant impact on its UK expansion plans. On July 31, 2026, Robinhood U.K. Ltd., a subsidiary of Robinhood Markets Inc., was added to the Financial Conduct Authority's (FCA) cryptoasset register. This move allows the company to provide covered cryptocurrency services in the UK while complying with the country's current anti-money laundering and counterterrorist financing rules.
The registration is an important legal step for Robinhood, but it should not be confused with full authorization under the wider regulatory framework starting on October 25, 2027. The FCA has clarified that existing registration will not automatically convert into authorization under the coming framework. However, systems and controls already established by registered companies can help demonstrate compliance when firms submit their new applications.
Roger's prediction comes as Robinhood reported mixed cryptocurrency performance in its second quarter results. According to the company's Q2 2026 results, total net revenue increased 32% year over year to $1.31 billion. Transaction-based revenue rose 44% to $776 million, supported by growth in several trading products. However, cryptocurrency transaction revenue declined 38% year over year to $100 million.
