Robinhood Sees Record Revenue Despite Crypto Trading Slump
Robinhood Markets reported significant growth in its customer base and revenue, despite a decline in cryptocurrency trading volumes. The company has 28.5 million funded customers, with a record $22 billion in net deposits and total platform assets of $369 billion.
The July crypto trading volume fell 33% month-over-month to $10.9 billion, highlighting the ongoing struggle with cryptocurrency weakness. This decline contrasts sharply with strength in other areas, as event contracts generated $156 million in quarterly revenue, up more than tenfold from the prior year.
Robinhood's diversification reflects a broader retail trading industry challenge. The company now operates 13 separate business lines that have each reached at least $100 million in annualized revenues, signaling a strategic shift away from reliance on crypto volatility.
