Robinhood Shatters Revenue Records as Prediction Markets Heat Up
Roger that! Robinhood has hit all-time highs in trading volumes across equities, options, and prediction markets. The company's record-breaking Q2 revenues of $1.31 billion surpassed Wall Street's estimate of $1.26 billion by 5%, marking a 32% year-over-year increase.
Crypto revenue took a hit, plummeting to $100 million - down 38% from the same period last year. However, event contracts (prediction markets) surged over 10x to $156 million, becoming Robinhood's fastest-growing revenue line. This significant shift has shifted transaction-based revenues up by 44%, with options adding $342 million and equities growing by $129 million.
The company continues to expand into prediction markets and crypto products. On the heels of its public mainnet launch on July 1, Robinhood Chain has processed over 12 billion index volume since its inception. The company also highlighted Rothera, a CFTC-licensed prediction markets exchange joint venture with Susquehanna International Group.
