Robinhood Soars 17% on Bullish Predictions and Crypto Strength
Robinhood Markets saw its shares jump nearly 17% on Thursday, making it one of the strongest performers in the S&P 500. This rally came as Wall Street analysts turned more bullish on the fintech platform and strength in cryptocurrencies added to investor enthusiasm.
A key catalyst behind the rally was growing optimism around Robinhood's prediction-market business. Deutsche Bank highlighted prediction markets as an important growth opportunity, particularly as financial and event-based contracts gain wider acceptance among investors.
Analysts at Scotiabank initiated coverage of Robinhood with an Outperform rating and a $136 price target. They believe investors may be valuing Robinhood too heavily as a cyclical retail broker while overlooking its expanding and potentially more stable sources of revenue.
Piper Sandler raised its price target on Robinhood to $145 from $135, while maintaining an Overweight rating. Analyst Patrick Moley expects prediction-market activity to accelerate as the NFL and NCAA football seasons get underway, potentially creating another meaningful revenue opportunity.
