Robinhood Stock Drops Amid Calls for Clearer Crypto Rules
Roninhood's stock price dropped in after-hours trading, falling 1.01% to $89.84. The decline comes as Vlad Tenev, the company's top executive, emphasized the need for clearer crypto rules during a recent earnings call.
Tenev praised the Clarity Act as an 'important step' towards regulatory stability, stating that it could boost many of Robinhood's offerings currently under development, including tokenized stocks. He noted that this stability is necessary to establish a durable foundation for the industry in the US.
Despite the drop in crypto revenue, which plummeted 38% year-over-year, Robinhood beat estimates on both the top and bottom lines, with quarterly revenue reaching a record $1.3 billion. Transaction-based revenues surged 44% year-over-year to $776 million, driven by equities, options, and prediction markets.
