Robinhood Stock Soars 11% on Trump's Clarity Act Push
The stock price of Robinhood (HOOD) surged by over 11% on August 21, following President Trump's public call to pass the Clarity Act, a bill that aims to establish a regulatory framework for digital assets.
The proposed legislation would classify most cryptocurrencies as commodities, subjecting them to joint oversight from the SEC and CFTC. This move could bring in a new wave of users who have been waiting for the government to clarify the legal status of digital assets.
Crypto-related stocks also rallied on the same day, with Coinbase jumping more than 7%, as the sector-wide reaction confirmed that this was not just a Robinhood-specific event. Goldman Sachs raised its HOOD price target to $123, citing a Strong Buy rating based on 15 Buy ratings and three Holds.
