Robinhood Unleashes AI-Powered Automated Trading on Retail Traders

Share

Retail traders on Robinhood are now able to use AI-powered automated trading thanks to the platform's new Agentic Trading feature. This capability, which was previously only available to hedge funds and prop desks, allows users to connect third-party AI agents to their brokerage accounts. The agents can execute trades across equities, options, and cryptocurrency.

The feature is currently limited to cash accounts, meaning no margin trading, and users must deposit funds into a dedicated Agentic account before connecting an AI agent. Robinhood's Trading Model Context Protocol (MCP) serves as the bridge between the user's account and third-party AI platforms such as Claude, ChatGPT, and Grok.

CEO Vlad Tenev framed the launch as a continuation of Robinhood's original mission to provide retail investors with capabilities similar to institutional high-frequency trading tools. To ensure safety, Robinhood has implemented various measures including isolated accounts, real-time activity monitoring, and instant disconnection options.
