Robinhood's Event Contracts Business Skyrockets 15 Times Year-Over-Year
Riding the wave of prediction market popularity, Robinhood has seen its event contracts business skyrocket 15 times year-over-year in August. This surge is a testament to the company's strategic shift towards focusing on these contracts, which have become the most important revenue line for the firm.
The numbers behind this growth are impressive: during the second quarter of 2026, Robinhood pulled in $156 million from event contracts alone, more than 10 times what was generated in the same quarter last year. For context, equity trading revenue came in at $129 million and crypto revenue trailed further at $100 million.
The company's prediction market empire has been built through various channels, including its CFTC-licensed joint venture exchange Rothera, which launched in June 2026 and has already processed billions of contracts. Robinhood also maintains partnerships with platforms like Kalshi and ForecastEx to route contracts, expanding liquidity access for users.
