Robinhood's Record Revenue Driven by Prediction Markets Boom
Robinhood's second-quarter revenue soared to $1.31 billion, a 32% year-over-year increase that beats Wall Street estimates of $1.26 billion.
The company's crypto trading revenue plummeted by 38%, however, falling to $100 million from the previous year's $160 million.
On the other hand, prediction market bets on real-world outcomes, also known as event contracts, exploded over 10 times in value, reaching $156 million. This new revenue stream has become the company's fastest-growing line.
Robinhood is expanding its ecosystem with Robinhood Chain, a blockchain designed for tokenized stocks and decentralized finance applications. The platform now supports stock tokens, decentralized lending, and international crypto offerings are on the horizon.
