Roma Secures Castro Transfer for €35M Amid Fan Token Hype
Italian football club AS Roma has completed its first major transfer of the summer by signing Argentine striker Santiago Castro from Bologna for €35 million. The deal, finalized on July 27, includes an additional €2 million in performance-related bonuses and a sell-on clause for Bologna.
The 21-year-old Castro's contract with Roma is set to run through 2031, following medical examinations that are expected to take place shortly after the transfer agreement was reached.
Roma operates its own fan token, ASR, on the Chiliz blockchain through Socios.com. The token allows holders voting rights, rewards, and community engagement perks.
While no immediate price movement has been reported for ASR following the transfer, analysts suggest that fan token holders should keep a close eye on the situation as it may influence fan engagement levels and market sentiment toward the club.
