Russia Approves Big Three Cryptocurrencies for Exchange Trading

Russia's Central Bank has approved Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Tether (USDT) for trading on exchanges, marking a significant step towards mainstream adoption of cryptocurrencies in the country.

The move follows the passage of a law in July that legalized cryptocurrency circulation in Russia. The regulator clarified at the time that only these three assets met the criteria for exchange trading.

Under the new rules, non-qualified investors will have limited access to the most liquid cryptocurrencies, with an annual cap of 300,000 rubles' worth of those assets per intermediary. However, qualified investors will be able to buy any cryptocurrency traded on exchanges without restriction.

All investors must pass a test and review the risks of crypto investing before making a trade.
