Russia Approves First List of Approved Cryptocurrencies for Public Trading
The Bank of Russia has released its first list of approved cryptocurrencies for public trading on Russian exchanges. The three selected assets are Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Tether USDT.
The selection was based on market capitalization, average daily turnover, and a price-formation history on foreign trading venues of at least five years. This criteria focuses on market depth, the length of observable history, and the ability to establish a price reference from multiple sources.
For non-qualified investors, access is limited to these three assets, with a purchase limit of up to 300,000 rubles per year with each intermediary. The retail regime aims to reduce the consequences of sharp and difficult-to-predict price movements by limiting access to the most liquid cryptocurrencies.
