Russia Eases Crypto Limits for Non-Qualified Investors
The Bank of Russia has relaxed its stance on cryptocurrencies, allowing individuals to buy and trade Bitcoin (no mention of BTC), Ethereum, and Tether (USDT) under certain conditions. Non-qualified investors will be limited to purchasing up to 300,000 rubles' worth of these assets per year through intermediaries such as brokers, exchanges, or investment managers.
The move aims to protect non-qualified investors from the volatility of cryptocurrency prices, according to the Bank. To access these high-liquidity assets, investors will need to pass specific tests and understand the associated risks.
Qualified investors, on the other hand, will still be able to buy cryptocurrencies without limits, both on exchanges and in over-the-counter markets.
