Russia Legalizes Crypto Services Advertising, But Not Cryptocurrency Investment

Share

Crypto services advertising in Russia has been given a legal window for the first time. A new law allows licensed market participants to promote their services, but not cryptocurrency as an investment asset.

This change separates the concepts of advertising digital currency and promoting services related to it. According to Marianna Komarovskaya, CEO of Right Side, this difference is fundamental: one remains prohibited, while the other becomes permissible if conditions are met.

The law prohibits the promotion of cryptocurrency as a means of payment for goods or services within Russia. Phrases about profitability, past profits, price growth, or 'a reliable way to earn' are also considered risky under Russian regulation.
