Russia Links Crypto Accounts to Tax IDs: Users Must Provide TINs by July 2027
Russia has introduced a new law requiring crypto users to link their Taxpayer Identification Number (TIN) to regulated accounts, marking a significant shift towards stricter regulations in the country's crypto environment.
The TIN, a 12-digit number assigned to Russian citizens, is now mandatory for accessing and maintaining regulated cryptocurrency accounts. This move aims to combat money laundering and increase transparency in the sector.
Crypto service providers must report user data and high-value transactions, including core transaction metadata such as asset type, volume, fiat valuation, timestamp, and account balances.
