Russia Opens Qualified Investor Status to Exam-Based Path
Russia's central bank is making it easier for individual investors to gain qualified investor status by introducing an exam-based pathway.
The new system, effective August 31st, replaces previous requirements that included holding a CFA credential or maintaining assets worth at least 24 million rubles.
Under the revised framework, individuals can qualify by passing a financial market knowledge exam, which assesses their understanding of investment risks and instruments.
This lowers the barrier for retail investors who may not meet high asset or income thresholds but still possess sufficient financial literacy.
