Russia's new digital currency law is set to take effect on September 1, expanding access to Bitcoin and other digital assets for non-professional investors.

The legislation also creates a formal regulatory framework for some crypto transactions while permanently banning others.

The move is expected to facilitate domestic adoption of cryptocurrencies in Russia, potentially leading to $40 billion in regulated trade within the next year.
