Russia Restricts Retail Crypto Trading to Bitcoin, Ether, and USDT
Russia's central bank has moved to restrict retail crypto trading to three assets: Bitcoin (BTC), Ether (ETH), and USDT. The draft rules would limit non-qualified investors to 300,000 rubles ($3,600) of crypto purchases per year at each intermediary, with no cap for qualified investors.
The move is part of Russia's effort to regulate the crypto market, which was opened to regulated trading from September 1. The whitelist adds detail to legislation passed in July that did not specify which assets retail investors could buy.
