Russia Signs Law Allowing Regulated Crypto Trading
Russia has taken a significant step towards regulating its cryptocurrency market by passing a new law that allows regulated retail trading.
The law, signed by President Vladimir Putin on August 6, creates a framework for crypto exchanges, brokers, custodians, clearing companies, and investors.
Under the new rules, retail investors can buy up to 300,000 rubles (approximately $3,700) worth of approved cryptocurrencies each year through licensed platforms.
The law also introduces requirements for cryptocurrency exchanges, including registration with the government and implementation of anti-money laundering measures.
