Russia Slashes Crypto Options for Retail Investors
Russia's central bank has introduced new restrictions on cryptocurrency trading for retail investors. Starting immediately, individual investors will only be able to trade Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), and Tether's USDT stablecoin.
This means that individual investors in Russia will have access to only three cryptocurrencies: BTC, ETH, and USDT. This limits the options available to them compared to professional traders or accredited investors with a sizable net worth.
The new rules also impose an annual limit of $3,600 (the equivalent) on the amount of money that retail investors can put into cryptocurrency trading.
It's worth noting that while these restrictions apply to individual investors, they do not affect professional traders or qualified investors with a significant net worth. Additionally, any and all cryptocurrency payments inside Russia remain prohibited by the central bank.
