Russia is expanding its Bitcoin mining ban to include Moscow and surrounding areas. Beginning August 15, digital-asset mining will be prohibited in the capital city, as well as the Moscow region and parts of Kursk, through the end of 2032.

This move aims to reduce strain on the electricity grid and prevent power outages for other consumers, according to Russia's Energy Ministry. The country currently accounts for around 17.2% of the global Bitcoin hash rate, making it the world's second-largest mining country.
