Russian Crypto Market Risks Becoming More Isolated Under New Regulations
The Russian crypto market may become more isolated due to updated regulatory rules and external sanctions. According to Kirill Pistsov, head of product development at Finam financial group, the new vulnerability is created by a combination of Russian regulation and the external sanctions environment.
Legislative changes in Russia require market participants to legalize, making liquidity provider addresses and asset movements more open to analysis. Foreign authorities may increase pressure on companies and their associated crypto addresses, affecting not only businesses but also their associated assets.
Kirill Pistsov suggests that such barriers could reduce opportunities for arbitrage between Russian and foreign platforms, leading to a separate price circuit within the country where assets trade at a discount to international quotes. The risk of token blocking by issuers remains a concern, particularly for US dollar stablecoins.
