Russian Crypto Market Risks Isolation Under Sanctions Pressure
The Russian cryptocurrency market may become more vulnerable to isolation and sanctions due to recent regulatory changes. According to Kirill Pistov, Head of Product Development at Finam financial group, these new regulations make it easier for foreign authorities to track wallets and transactions on Russian exchanges.
This increased transparency could lead to assets being classified as high-risk if they pass through certain addresses, potentially limiting arbitrage between domestic and international platforms. This risk is not limited to private investors but also affects the broader market perimeter, including brokers, exchange services, and custodial solutions that require clear tax accounting and legal protection.
Currently, only Bitcoin, Ether, and USDT are allowed in legal circulation on Russian platforms. However, these assets still pose risks when being transferred outside of Russia's infrastructure due to concerns about their origin.
