Russian Market Prepares Digital Ruble Launch Amid Bitcoin Growth
The Russian market is gearing up for a new era of digital currency with the launch of the digital ruble, which is gradually becoming part of the financial system. The largest banks and retail chains are preparing to connect their infrastructure to operations with this new form of national currency.
As of September 1, updated rules for handling cryptocurrencies came into force in Russia, focusing on tighter control over crypto asset turnover, combating illegal exchanges, and aligning rules with FATF standards. For companies, this means more requirements for transaction checks and risk management, while users will have less room for gray schemes and a higher likelihood of additional checks for questionable transactions.
Bitcoin is also experiencing growth, but market risks remain. The largest public cryptocurrency holders have increased their positions and bought large batches of coins amid rising prices. However, analysts doubt that this strategy always works effectively.
