Russia's Crypto Law Leaves Most Citizens Unimpressed

Share

Russia has introduced regulations for its crypto market, but it seems most citizens are not enthusiastic about participating. According to a recent Rambler&Co poll, only 31% of respondents see some benefit in using cryptocurrencies, while 69% could not identify any personal use after legalization.

The survey showed that limited awareness is the main reason for this lack of interest. A total of 54% knew almost nothing about how cryptocurrencies work, and another 23% blamed fragmented and conflicting information for their limited understanding of digital assets.

The main provisions of the federal digital currency law will take effect on September 1, and existing crypto businesses have a transition period before licensed channels become mandatory on July 1, 2027. The law also recognizes cryptocurrency as property within Russia's regulated financial system.
