Russia's new cryptocurrency law has taken effect, bringing Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), and USDT under the supervision of the Bank of Russia. The law allows retail investors to access these approved assets through licensed platforms. However, there are still strict purchase limits in place, and crypto payments within Russia remain banned.

The law took effect on September 1, 2026, giving Russian citizens and businesses access to a regulated market for the three approved cryptocurrencies. The Bank of Russia will oversee their use and trade, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.

It's worth noting that while the new law provides a framework for cryptocurrency use in Russia, it still maintains significant restrictions on crypto activities within the country.
