Russia's Crypto Market to Skyrocket with Regulated Trading
Sber, Russia's largest bank, is predicting a significant growth in the country's cryptocurrency exchange market. According to Sber Deputy Chairman Anatoly Popov, the volume of operations could reach 3.5-4 trillion rubles in the first year alone and approach 7.5 trillion rubles by 2029. This forecast was prepared by analysts at SberCIB Investment Research.
The estimate is based on the current turnover of Russians' cryptocurrency operations, which stands at about 50 billion rubles per day. If part of this flow moves into a regulated environment, the exchange could quickly gain significant liquidity.
Under the base scenario, about 20% of the existing volume of operations could move to the organized market in the first year. This would provide clearer rules, transparent infrastructure, and the ability to work with digital assets through online exchange services or a regulated framework.
