Russia's Regulated Crypto Market Poised for $46 Billion Year One
Russia's regulated cryptocurrency market is expected to reach $46.43 billion in trading volume during its first year, according to Sberbank Deputy Chairman Anatoly Popov.
This projection is based on data showing daily cryptocurrency transactions in Russia running at about 50 billion rubles, or roughly 18 trillion rubles a year.
The bank's SberCIB Investment Research analysts estimate that around 20% of this volume will migrate to regulated exchanges in the first year after legalization, reaching between 3.5 trillion and 4 trillion rubles.
Popov noted that these estimates deliberately understates the market's eventual scale, as a significant share of crypto activity is expected to continue flowing through unlicensed exchange services, limiting how much volume regulated markets capture at first.
