Russia's Regulated Crypto Trading Volume Hits 3.5-4 Trillion Ruble Mark
Russia's regulated crypto trading market is expected to reach between 3.5 trillion and 4 trillion rubles during its first year, according to a forecast from SberCIB Investment Research.
This represents around 20% of Russia's estimated annual cryptocurrency transaction volume, which currently totals roughly 50 billion rubles daily, or about 18 trillion rubles over one year, based on Russian Finance Ministry data.
The forecast assumes limited migration to the regulated market, with a significant portion of activity expected to remain with unregistered services. Non-qualified investors will face annual purchase limits of 300,000 rubles through each intermediary after passing a knowledge test.
Sberbank Deputy Chairman Anatoly Popov said that existing crypto exchange providers have until July 2027 to register under Russia's new licensing framework. The central bank has proposed rules covering exchanges, digital depositories, client accounts, and asset records.
