SafePal Exposed: 39,798 Customers' Data Leaked
SafePal, a leading non-custodial wallet suite backed by Binance and Animoca Brands, has disclosed a data breach that exposed personal information of approximately 39,798 customers. The incident occurred due to a flaw in an order-tracking plug-in, which gave attackers unauthorized access to customer data.
The affected data includes names, email addresses, shipping addresses, phone numbers, and purchase details. However, SafePal assures its users that wallet credentials themselves remain untouched, with seed phrases, private keys, and wallet passwords being secure.
This breach has raised concerns about the potential for physical targeting, as the exposed data can be used to identify high-net-worth individuals. The rising trend of so-called wrench attacks, in which victims are threatened or assaulted until they surrender their crypto, is also a cause for concern.
