Sam Bankman-Fried Seeks Supreme Court Review of FTX Fraud Conviction

Share

Sam Bankman-Fried (SBF), founder of FTX, has filed a petition to the U.S. Supreme Court to overturn his conviction and 25-year prison sentence for fraud related to the collapse of the cryptocurrency exchange.

The petition challenges key aspects of the case, including the trial court's refusal to allow SBF to present evidence about whether FTX customers ultimately recovered their money, as well as the excessive $11 billion forfeiture order.

SBF's lawyers argue that he was deprived of a fair trial due to these limitations and that the forfeiture is unconstitutional under the Eighth Amendment.

The Supreme Court has not yet indicated whether it will take up SBF's petition, which would determine if the challenge receives further consideration.
