Samsung SDS Partners with Dunamu to Develop Stablecoin Infrastructure
Samsung SDS [018260.KS] shares rose after the company announced plans to develop stablecoin infrastructure in partnership with Dunamu, operator of South Korea's largest cryptocurrency exchange Upbit. This move is part of Samsung SDS' broader technology growth strategy.
The companies plan to review next-generation payments and financial system integration services for virtual assets, combining blockchain operations with Samsung SDS' cloud, security, data, and enterprise technology services. The partnership aims to turn the investment into practical payment, security, and infrastructure products.
Samsung SDS reported a 5.9% increase in second-quarter revenue to 3.7178 trillion won, while operating profit rose 0.7% to 231.8 billion won. Cloud revenue climbed 17% to 779.4 billion won, driven by higher demand from public agencies and corporate customers.
The company plans to expand computing capacity for artificial intelligence and digital financial services, targeting a total of over 800 megawatts by 2031. Samsung SDS has secured AI projects with Woori Bank and the Export-Import Bank of Korea, and maintains technology partnerships with OpenAI, Anthropic, and Google Cloud.
