Samsung Unveils Stablecoin Support for Wallet App with 800 Million Devices to Follow
Samsung has been building its crypto footprint for seven years, starting with the Galaxy S10 in 2019. The company's blockchain keystore stores private keys in a hardware isolated environment, and Ledger integration followed shortly after. In July 2025, Coinbase partnered with Samsung to bring crypto purchasing to Galaxy owners through Samsung Pay.
The latest step is the introduction of native stablecoins into Samsung Wallet at Galaxy Unpacked on July 22, 2026. The demo showed a USDC balance with send and receive buttons, but no issuer or blockchain was confirmed. Samsung plans to have 800 million devices with Galaxy AI by the end of 2026, which would support stablecoin features.
The investment in Dunamu, operator of South Korea's largest crypto exchange Upbit, is a key part of this strategy. Three Samsung affiliates paid $408 million for a combined 4% stake in Dunamu, which will be used to build tokenized securities and digital asset services.
