Samsung Wallet Adds Stablecoins in Major Mobile Payment Expansion
Samsung is expanding its mobile wallet's capabilities by integrating stablecoins, making it one of the first major mobile wallets to do so. This development was announced at the Galaxy Unpacked event in London, where product manager Lee Dinham explained that stablecoins are necessary for fast and reliable transfers between smartphones.
The move marks another step towards a universal financial center on a smartphone, as Samsung aims to combine payment tools with digital asset storage, loyalty programs, and digital ID features. This approach increases competition with Apple Wallet and Google Wallet, which are also developing wallets as key services in the mobile ecosystem.
Samsung has not yet disclosed details about supported stablecoins, blockchains, crypto partners, or security standards for storing stablecoins. The launch timing and regions have also been left open. This development logically continues the expansion of Samsung Pay and Wallet as a unified financial environment.
