Samsung Wallet Adds Support for Stablecoins
Samsung Wallet is expanding its digital finance ecosystem by supporting stablecoins, allowing Galaxy users to access new forms of digital value. Lee Dinham, a product manager at Samsung, confirmed that the platform will support native stablecoins, making it one of the first major mobile brands to do so.
Stablecoins link their value to traditional currencies like the US dollar, offering more consistent value than cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin. This means digital transfers will be faster and more trusted for Galaxy users.
Samsung has not yet shared details on which stablecoins it plans to support or its partners for integration. However, the company emphasized that its Knox security system will provide end-to-end encryption across the entire financial ecosystem, safeguarding sensitive information at both hardware and software levels.
The move builds on Samsung's previous partnership with Coinbase to offer cryptocurrency services via Samsung Wallet in the US. The Galaxy Card, a new financial service within Samsung Wallet, offers cashback rewards on eligible purchases and is available in partnership with Barclays and Visa.
