SAND Delisting Risk Escalates as Upbit and Bithumb Review $49B Mint Attack
The Sandbox (SAND) token is facing delisting risks from two major South Korean exchanges, Upbit and Bithumb, after a massive $49 billion mint attack on its cross-chain bridge.
The incident occurred when an attacker exploited the SAND Omnichain Fungible Token deployment on Base, gaining administrative control over the endpoint configuration and unlimited minting rights on the destination chain.
Upbit froze SAND deposits on August 22 and has designated SAND as an investment warning asset, pending review through early October. Bithumb is conducting a parallel review between September 28 and October 2 to decide whether to lift, extend, or terminate its own caution designation.
