Sandbox Confirms Cross-Chain Bridge Vulnerability Affects Base and BSC Networks

The Sandbox has confirmed a recent SAND token cross-chain bridge vulnerability that affected Base and BNB Smart Chain (BSC) networks.

According to an official statement, the team has fully contained the incident and estimates that only 0.01% of the total SAND supply was involved, which is a relatively limited impact range.

The team assures users that Ethereum and Polygon-based SAND tokens were not affected, and user wallets remain secure with no need for action from holders or liquidity providers.

However, the attackers exploited the vulnerability to mint uncollateralized SAND tokens on Base and BSC networks. The Sandbox has since disabled cross-chain functionality for these two networks, isolating SAND tokens on Base and BSC, making them temporarily unusable for transfer or exchange.
