The Sandbox has identified and contained a vulnerability in its cross-chain bridge on Base and BNB Smart Chain.

This allowed an attacker to mint unbacked SAND tokens, but only affected less than 0.01% of the total 3 billion SAND supply.

No user wallets were compromised, and Ethereum and Polygon tokens remained secure.

The incident prompted exchanges like Upbit and Bithumb to halt SAND deposits and withdrawals as a precaution.
