The Sandbox, a metaverse project, recently contained an incident involving 14.9 billion unauthorized SAND tokens.

The team behind The Sandbox identified and addressed a vulnerability that allowed an unknown party to issue the unauthorized tokens on the Base and BSC networks.

The total supply of the original asset on Ethereum is 3 billion SAND, valued at approximately $140 million.

Developers blocked cross-chain operations and isolated the malicious tokens on the original blockchains. According to them, user wallets were not affected during the incident, only 0.01% of SAND in circulation was impacted.
