Sandeson Seeks Return of Stolen Cash and Bitcoin
Convicted murderer William Sandeson is seeking to recover $5000 in cash and a laptop containing Bitcoin that was seized by police during his arrest for the murder of Taylor Samson.
The Crown is arguing that the money should be forfeited as it represents proceeds of crime, but Sandeson's lawyer claims the money was legitimate and not tainted by criminality.
Sandeson had obtained a $200,000 line of credit to help pay for university expenses and had used some of the funds to loan to other drug dealers. The Crown is seeking to link this activity to the purchase of Bitcoin.
A Nova Scotia Supreme Court justice has reserved his decision on the matter until November, when he will also rule on whether testimony from Sandeson's second murder trial can be used in the proceeding.
