Sanford Enters South Carolina Senate Race, Challenging GOP Contenders

Former governor and congressman Mark Sanford has announced his candidacy for the U.S. Senate seat in South Carolina, joining an already crowded field of Republicans vying to replace the late Sen. Lindsey Graham.

The primary election is scheduled for August 11, with a runoff possible if no candidate secures a majority.

Sanford's entry has introduced significant competition into the race, potentially affecting the chances of Rep. Ralph Norman, who saw his YES probability drop from 30% to 20.5% in recent market pricing.

The Republican primary winner will face Democratic nominee Annie Andrews in the general election.
