Spain's largest bank, Banco Santander, has made a significant foray into cryptocurrency by investing $4.3 million in Bitcoin.

The investment was made through BlackRock's iShares Bitcoin Trust, with the bank purchasing a total of 129,615 shares.

This move marks a major step forward for traditional institutions seeking exposure to digital assets, and comes as no surprise given Santander's growing interest in cryptocurrency.

In recent years, the bank's digital arm, Openbank, has allowed customers to buy Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies, paving the way for increased adoption within the institution.
